The Odisha government has announced that it will set up a Sovereign AI Park in the state. The idea is simple. Odisha wants to build strong and secure AI and computing systems that can serve both the state and the country.

The plan comes after the state signed an MoU with Sarvam AI. The agreement was signed in the presence of Droupadi Murmu at the Black Swan Summit 2026.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the project will help Odisha become a major source of trusted AI and computing power in India.

What the Park Will Be

The Sovereign AI Park will be a large campus built only for AI and computing work. It will have data centers, research labs, training centers, startup spaces, and offices for companies.

Everything will be in one place so people can work together easily and move ideas forward faster.

How It Helps the State

The park will work as a public AI facility for Odisha. This means the government can use AI tools in areas like mining, heavy industries, and skill training.

Officials say these tools can make worksites safer and help industries follow rules more closely. They can also make daily work smoother and faster. Voice tools in Odia and English will help young people learn skills and get ready for jobs.

Odisha’s Role for the Country

Odisha also wants to support India’s wider AI push. The state plans to offer large computing capacity that other states and agencies can use.

In simple terms, Odisha wants to become a strong base that helps power AI systems across the country.

Jobs and Opportunities

The project is expected to create over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Many of these jobs will be for engineers, researchers, technicians, and support staff.

AI for Everyday People

The government plans to roll out voice-based AI services in education, farming, healthcare, public services, and safety.

These services will let people, especially in rural and tribal areas, ask questions and get information about schemes, benefits, and complaints just by speaking.

The Road Ahead

State officials say this project shows Odisha’s focus on building its own technology strength. With the Sovereign AI Park, the state hopes to play a bigger role in India’s growing AI space and make sure the benefits reach ordinary people too.
